Turner prize winning artist Jeremy Deller joined Lida Hujić for an exclusive screening of his latest project ‘Putin’s Happy’, followed by a Q and A. Filmed in and around Parliament Square in the period between January and March 2019 and featuring an ad-hoc cast of protesters, ranging from xenophobes and fantasists through to inspiring young activists as a counterbalance, it questions the state of the nation, following the Brexit vote. Described as ‘thoroughly depressing’ by Art Review magazine, this intrepid comment adeptly captures Deller’s inimitable style of social investigation, where in situ reportage is combined with a sense of humour that fluctuates between irony and absurdity.
